Laparoscopic hepatic flexure mobilisation

چکیده
Ann R Coll Surg Engl 2012; 94: 359–372 Many lower extremity, pelvic and acetabular fractures require traction as first aid management prior to definitive fixation. While skin traction and Thomas splints are generally available, weights to provide countertraction are often missing or in parts of the hospital remote to the emergency department. A sharps bin (Sharpsguard® orange 11.5; Daniels, Oxford, UK) filled two-thirds with tap water and tied via its bucket handle to skin traction (Fig 1) provides approx 8kg of traction. This can effect reduction and temporary traction until weights are available. Use of a sharps bin to provide lower limb traction

Laparoscopic Removal of an Intrauterine Device Following Colon Perforation
BACKGROUND Intrauterine device (IUD) migration and colon perforation is a rare but serious complication occurring sometimes years after insertion. Laparoscopic removal of a colon-perforating device is a seldom-used approach. CASE A 35-year-old presented with right upper quadrant (RUQ) abdominal pain one year following intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. Upon vaginal examination, no IUD strin...
متن کاملRare image during laparoscopy: Abdominal tuberculosis.
A 66-year-old female patient was admitted to a general surgery polyclinic with abdominal pain. She was treated for pulmonary tuberculosis (PT) 28 years ago. On performing a physical examination, right upper quadrant tenderness was detected. Laboratory parameters were unremarkable. Abdominal ultrasonography (USG) findings were compatible with cholelithiasis and wall thickening of a hepatic flexu...
متن کاملComparison of long-term follow up of laparoscopic versus open colectomy for transverse colon cancer.
Clinical Outcomes of Surgical Therapy (COST) was a landmark study demonstrating that laparoscopic-assisted colectomy had oncologic outcomes similar to those of open colectomy for colon cancer, but transverse colon cancers (TCCs) were excluded from that study. Oncologic results of a laparoscopic resection for TCC are unknown. This single-institution retrospective 3:1 case-matched review examined...
متن کاملOpen vs totally laparoscopic right colectomy: technique and results
Background Right colectomy is the surgical treatment for malignant pathologies involving the intestinal tract between the ileocecal Bahuino valve and the colic hepatic flexure. Laparoscopic resection must respect the same oncological criteria as the open approach including: ‘’no-touch isolation technique’’, isolation and ligation of the vascular pedicles at the origin, oncological lymphadenecto...
متن کاملLaparoscopic complete mesocolic excision (CME) with completely medial approach for right-hemi colon cancer
Laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision (CME) has the potential to become the standard procedure of colon cancer surgery for its lower local recurrence rate and improved prognosis. Completely medial approach (CMA) is a promising access of laparoscopic CME in right hemicolectomy. A 45-year-old female patient was diagnosed as right-hemi colon cancer. Based on this case, we share the surgical str...
